What is Tru about?

Tru stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family) as legendary American author Truman Capote, best known for Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood.

Set in Capote’s New York apartment in December 1975, the play takes us behind the scenes of his glittering high-society life following the publication of an explosive excerpt from his unfinished novel Answered Prayers. The revelations have driven a wedge between Capote and his wealthy friends, leaving him to confront the fallout alone.

As he reflects on his life, career and relationships, Tru offers an intimate and darkly funny portrait of a literary icon grappling with fame, loneliness, addiction and the consequences of telling the truth.
